Sir,

I am directed by the Secretary of State to refer

to your letter of the 17th ultimo regarding your

desire to apply for the grant of a certificate of

naturalization and to say that he will be willing to

entertain an application from you when you have

completed 12 months continuous residence in the United

Kingdom but he cannot of course novgive a promise as

to the grant of a certificate. It will be necessary

for you to submit a fresh application in accordance

with the enclosed instructions, and supported by two

referees, natural born British subjects and hoseholders,

who are able to vouch for your residence and character.
